The Vision
Perched on a private bluff overlooking the ocean, the Malibu Coastal Estate represents a masterclass in organic luxury. Our studio was tasked with reimagining a mid-century structure into a contemporary sanctuary that prioritizes natural light, airflow, and a sophisticated material palette.
The design philosophy centered on 'invisible luxury'—where the craftsmanship is felt rather than flaunted. Custom-milled European oak floors and hand-applied lime wash walls provide a neutral foundation for a curated collection of artisanal furniture.

The Challenge of Transparency
Designing a home with such vast exposure to the elements required a delicate balance between openness and intimacy. The primary challenge was to create a space that felt secure and grounded while maintaining an unobstructed 270-degree view of the ocean.
We utilized a series of recessed pocket doors and floating architectural volumes to define spaces without the use of traditional walls. The result is a home that breathes with the environment, capturing the shifting California light from dawn until dusk.
